United Way of Lee County is taking donations to support the Tallapoosa County Girls Ranch, following a tragic traffic accident that occurred on June 19, taking the lives of 10 people.

Donations can be dropped off at the United Way of Lee County office, located at 2133 Executive Parkway Dr. in Opelika.

Needed donations include: deep pocket twin sheets, bath towels, antibacterial floor cleaner, mops and brooms, washing detergent, light bulbs, toilet paper, paper towels, dishwashing liquid, clothes hampers, wasp, ant and roach spray, ant pellets, large garbage bags, kitchen garbage bags, rugs for the girls’ bedrooms, vacuum cleaner, air filter 20×30 or 20×20, AA batteries, AAA batteries, insect bite/sting medicine, work gloves and safety glasses, shovels and rakes, printer paper, Rid Ex for new septic tanks, gift cards, gas hedger, two dump trucks of sand for riding corral, moth balls for snakes, Bio One drain cleaner,  Lysol, hand soap, pool salt, chlorine granules and water test strips.

Wishful donations include: torch rig with tanks, pipe wrenches, painting the water tower, use of bulldozer and backhoe with operator, PTO-driven 500-100 gallon sprayer for tractor, tiller for tractor, sheetrock to finish building walls in remodeled dorm, plumbing for college dorm, electrical services to put wiring in remodeled dorm, steam clean carpets in girls’ homes, fencing, electric fence kit, wheelbarrow, iodine shampoo, hoof medicines, ear medicine, pallet and hay forks for tractor, wood plainer, use of stump grinder, mulch and security gate for front entrance.
