Southern Union State Community College (SUSCC) students looking to differentiate themselves in the job market now have the opportunity to gain valuable experience by taking part in the academic internship program launching at SUSCC this spring.

“We are excited to begin this internship program. Our goal is to help students grow and evolve in their fields of study,” said Tyler Laye, director of academic programs at SUSCC .

Laye added that by offering learning opportunities related to a student’s career goals through dynamic work experiences students can develop personal and professional skills and take advantage of networking opportunities that set them apart from other students.

In addition to student participants, the college is also looking for companies to host interns.

“We welcome the opportunity to begin a conversation with area companies on how our interns can assist in their day to day operation,” Laye said. “We hope that the partnerships formed will help in developing curriculum directed toward industry needs.”

To apply to participate in the Academic Internship Program, students should complete the application found at www.suscc.edu/careerservices/academicinternshipprogram.
