The Smiths Station City Council approved Justin Shepherd to become the next member of the city’s planning commission during their meeting on Dec. 23, 2019.
Because of Christmas Eve occurring on a Tuesday last year, the city council voted at the Nov. 26, 2019 meeting to bump up their second December meeting by one day.
Shepherd, a Smiths Station resident, owns Justin Shepherd Contracting, LLC in Phenix City, which operates throughout the Chattahoochee Valley area. He joins William Spear and Richard Terry as the most recent appointees to the planning commission.
The council also adopted a resolution approving the “Sever Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday” for the weekend of Feb. 21 to 23 by state mandate. Visit www.alabamaretail.org to view a full list of tax-exempt items that can be purchased during this sales tax holiday.
