The Samford Community Outreach fellowship group held its Fourth Annual Opelika Commnity Outreach Unity Prayer Gathering on June 26 at Christian Care Ministries in Opelika. This year’s theme was Unity and Power of Prayer based off the Bible verses James 5:16 and First Thessalonians 5:17, which reads, “Pray without ceasing.”

Speakers included Lt. Ben Blackburn from the Opelika Police Department; firefighter Antavious Lipscomb from the Opelika Fire Department; Mary Hawkruiz, Lucile Gray and Marquenta Barnett from Auburn-Opelika Moms Demand Action group and Lee County NAACP Branch #5038 President Billy Allen and member Deborah Lowe. Lowe is the President of Religious Affairs.

The group expressed its thanks to the community for attending the event and showing love and support in the Opelika community.
