Pickleball Courts Facility II

within the City of Opelika, Alabama.  This project consists principally of the follow¬ing the construction of 12 pickleball courts. The overall asphalt area:138’ X 223’. Turnkey pricing on delivery and installation meeting all specifications on base, asphalt, fencing, nets, posts, resurfacer, colored play surfacing, and lines.

All bidders on construction projects in excess of $10,000.00 shall file with his bid either a certified check payable to the City of Opelika for an amount not less than five (5) percent of the estimated cost or of the contractor’s bid but in no event more than $10,000.00; or a bid bond payable to the City of Opelika in an amount of not less than five (5) percent of the estimated cost or of the contractor’s bid, but in no event more than $10,000.00.

All Bidders bidding in amounts exceeding that established by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors must be licensed under the provisions of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, and must show evidence of license before bidding or bid will not be received or considered by the City official; the Bidder shall show such evidence by clearly displaying the license number on the outside of the envelope in which the bid is delivered. Also, the

contractor shall also be a Certified Tennis Court Builder as designated by the American Sports Builders Association (ASBA).  The Certified Tennis Court Builder shall be an employee of the Tennis Court Contractor and shall oversee all phases of the new court construction process. 

No bidder may withdraw their bid within 90 days after the opening thereof.

Public Hearing December 3, 2020

Public Notice

The City of Opelika will hold a Public Hearing on Monday, November 22, 2021, at 4:00 p.m., in the Municipal Meeting Room, 300 MLK Boulevard, to discuss the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) activity and progress for the end of the year Consolidated Annual Performance Report (CAPER) for program year 2020: October 1, 2020, through September 30, 2021. Discussion about the program and how it benefited Low-Moderate income families in the City of Opelika will be heard and discussed;

A Public Hearing will also be held to discuss proposed Amendments to the CDBG Annual Action Plans for PY2020. The proposed amendments will include reallocation of $39,983.34 from PY2020 in unspent funds from Domestic Violence Shelter, Lee-Russell Council of Government, and Main Street Façade Program.

A copy of the CAPER will be available for public review and comment beginning November 12, 2021, at Public Works, City Hall (Mayor’s office) and the Opelika Library. Copies of the CAPER may be obtained at the public hearing or by contacting the Planning Department. Public participation and comments are invited either in writing or in person and will be accepted for a minimum of fifteen (15) days with the comment period ending on November 27, 2021.

 8.    A public hearing on a request by Dino McDowell, authorized representative for Wyndham Gates, LLC, property owner, for major revisions to the Wyndham Gates (Planned Unit Development) master plan, accessed from Gateway Drive. Plan amendments are to replace single family homes shown on the original master plan with seventeen townhomes.  

  9.   A public hearing on a request by Blake Rice, Barrett-Simpson, Inc., representative for SILGEN LLC, property owner, for a minor revision to the Springs of Mill Lakes Planned Unit Development Master Plan accessed at 1270 Willow View Drive. The revision request is to decrease the 40-foot minimum front yard setback to 30 feet for 16 cottage lots along Birmingham Highway. Covered patios extending from the exterior wall of cottages that face Birmingham Highway requires a minimum 30-foot setback. The 16 cottage lots are accessed from interior private streets.   

 H.    Master Plan Revisions and Preliminary Plat – Public Hearings

The townhome development was granted conditional use approval at the December 15, 2020 Planning Commission meeting.
