It is time to invest in your health. The Opelika Chamber of Commerce’s Women’s Business Council is hosting a Health and Fitness series to learn some tips on getting healthy and reducing stress. The first session is Yoga and Nutrition on Feb. 17 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Opelika Sportsplex and Aquatics Center.

This first event will feature experienced nutritionists Noelle Steward and Leah Judice from East Alabama Medical Center, a short yoga session and healthy shakes and teas, courtesy of Midtown Nutrition.

Most people know good nutrition is when your body is getting the right nutrients, vitamins and minerals it needs to keep a healthy weight, but the benefits of good nutrition is so much more than weight. The EAMC duo will give great tips on how to eat well that will help reduce the risk of some diseases, high blood pressure, cholesterol and so much more.

Eating a well-balanced meal is important, but so is keeping your physical and mental health in check.  Yoga Instructor Cathy Henry from the Opelika Sportsplex and Aquatics Center, will lead attendees in some yoga poses that combines physical postures, breathing techniques and meditation or relaxation.

And lastly, Midtown Nutrition will be on hand with their delicious and nutritious shakes and teas. They make healthy smoothies, shakes, energy teas and aloe shots to help you lose weight, boost energy or gain muscle.
