Miriam Ann Faulk Dorsey of Opelika, Alabama passed away peacefully on Jan. 30, 2021 at Bethany House in Auburn surrounded by loved ones.

A farm girl from Ozark, Alabama, Miriam was attending API when she met the love of her life, the late David Whitt Dorsey, Sr. of Opelika, and their marriage in 1951 began a loving journey of 66 years.

Upon graduation from API, Miriam was a schoolteacher in the Lee County School system for 33 years. And, years after her retirement no family outing was complete without someone approaching her with “Aren’t you Mrs. Dorsey?” to which she would proceed to amaze those present with the names and events. After her retirement, “Bam” as she was affectionately known by family and friends, enjoyed lovingly keeping her home, her family and her sweet “Papa” in line. She took great pride in serving up delicious Sunday dinners and looked forward to her Garden Club meetings and her “mandatory” Thursday trips to the beauty parlor. In her later years, Bam loved watching her “Andy Griffith Show” as long as was in black and white!

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Whitt Dorsey, Sr. of Opelika; parents, Henry Lee Faulk and Annie Clark Faulk of Ozark, Alabama; sisters, Martha Faulk Loftin and Mary Faulk Kaye.

Miriam is survived by her sons, David Whitt Dorsey, Jr. (Leann), and Dallas Clark Dorsey; grandchildren, Dallas Clark Dorsey, Jr. (Anna), Whitney Starr Dorsey (Danna), David Whitt Dorsey, III, Anna Laura Dorsey (Rebecca), Joy Kate Dorsey; great grandchildren, Dallas Clark Dorsey, III, Isaac Terrell Dorsey, and Elijah Pete Dorsey.

A family graveside service will be held at Rosemere Cemetery on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Dr. Robin Wilson officiating.

The family would like to thank Bam’s extended family at Bethany House for their love, care and support.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to First United Methodist Church of Opelika or Bethany House of Auburn.
