Mike Bunn is a historian, author and director of historic Blakely State Park in Spanish Fort, Alabama. Lee County residents can meet Bunn and discuss the topic of his latest book, “Fourteenth Colony: the forgotten story of the gulf south during America’s revolutionary era”, at Loachapoka’s Pioneer Park on July 11, at 2:30 p.m.

The free event is open to the public and sponsored by the Lee County Historical Society.

In his book, Bunn introduces readers to the British colony of West Florida during America’s revolutionary era. Bunn details the political saga that features attempts to institute a representative government that includes a host of bold and colorful characters.

Bunn has previously authored and co-authored many books and articles, including “Early Alabama and illustrated guide to formative years, 1798 – 1826”; and “Alabama territory to statehood: an Alabama heritage bicentennial collection.”

The meeting will take place outside under the pavilion and free homemade ice cream will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
