James “Larry” Trammell, 76, of Opelika, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 3, 2021 at East Alabama Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born in Columbus, Georgia, raised in Loachapoka and has lived in the Opelika-Auburn area for many years.  He was born to James Langley and Annie Ruth Trammell. Being a Christian was an important part of his life. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren, along with wood working, mechanics, electronics and helping others.  He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister and brother-in-law, Gloria Jean and John Bass.  Surviving family members include his loving wife of 57 years, Diane Kaufman Trammell; his son and daughter-in-law, Larry Edward and Diane Trammell; his daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and George Goodfellow; his daughter and son-in-law, Sherrie and James McGill; his grandchildren:  Ryan Trammell, Hannah McGill, Erin Trammell, Grace McGill, Will Goodfellow, and Jordan McGill.  He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Reggie and Angie Trammell.

The family received friends at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home and Crematory in Opelika on Nov. 6, 2021, from 5 to 7 p.m.  Funeral services were on Nov. 7, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Garden Hills Cemetery.
