Elmer Myrick was born to the late Artis and Mavis Myrick on July 14, 1935, and passed away on Dec. 7, 2021. He was 86 years old.

Elmer was a long time, active member and Deacon of Providence Baptist Church. He retired from Civil Service as Chief of the Printing Plant at Fort Benning, Georgia with 35 years of service. He was a member of Gideon International, was an avid hobby farmer who was famous for his tomatoes, and loved growing a variety of plants and flowers. After retirement, he started Elmo’s Hauling, a business specializing in hauling topsoil and gravel in the local and surrounding communities.

He was preceded in death by his two sisters and two brothers.

Elmer is survived by his wife, Shirley Long Myrick; daughter, Connie Ivey (Michael); son, Chris Myrick (Deborah); step-children, Jerry Ray, Tim Ray, and Vicki Ware (Joe); nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister, Sandra McDaniel (“Shot”); brother, Melvin Myrick (Kathy).

Visitation was held Friday, Dec. 10, 2021, at Providence Baptist Church East Campus from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m.

The funeral service was held at Providence Baptist Church East Campus at 2 p.m. with Dr. Rusty Sowell officiating. Interment followed at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
