Cletis A. Brown of Opelika passed away at her home on Oct. 18. She was born March 26, 1940, in Ivanhoe, Va. She had been a resident of Opelika since 1979.

Brown was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church where she had served as past Senior Warden. Cletis had been very active in the Opelika Arts Association and served as past President. She was instrumental in raising funds for the Opelika Depot Restoration Project. Cletis fought a long term battle with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma for over 11 years.

Brown is survived by her husband, Robert Glenn Brown, M.D. of Opelika; son, Glenn Christopher Brown (Connie) of Sierra Madre, Calif.; daughter, Rebecca Brown Thibodeau, M.D. of Portsmouth, Va.; granddaughter, Meris Brown of Sierra Madre, Calif.; and grandsons, Gavin Brown of Sierra Madre, Calif., Alex Thibodeau and Mason Thibodeau of Portsmouth, Va.

Memorial service for Brown will be held at 10 a.m. on Oct. 22, 2011 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church with Father John Klein officiating. Visitation is Friday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.
