Funeral service for Bobby Bruce Thornton, 87 of Opelika was held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 22, 2016. The service was held at Jeffcoat – Trant Chapel.
Mr. Thornton passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2016 at Bill Nichols Veteran’s Home in Alexander City, Alabama. He was born in Prattville, Alabama in 1929. After serving in the Navy, he returned home and graduated from Prattville High School. He attended Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) where he received a degree in accounting. He worked for many years at Dairyland Meadowgold as an accountant.
Mr. Thornton is preceded in death by his wife, Elsie. Survivors include a sister, Carolyn, brother Barney (Billy Jean), many nieces and nephews; one daughter Miriam (Tom) Young; two sons, Bruce (Deborah) Thornton, William Thornton; grandchildren Christopher Young, Emily (Josh) Brickley, Andrew Thornton, Abigail (David) Gardner; three great grandchildren Noah Brickley, Killette Brickley, and Amelia Brickley.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to be made to Bill Nichols State Veteran’s Home in Alexander City, Alabama.
