Four Auburn businesses were finalists at the Alabama Small Business Awards, and two of those businesses landed in the top three.

Awards were presented in the following categories: Emerging (operating less than 5 years), 1-10 employees, 11-50 employees and 51-100 employees.

Lucy’s, which was nominated in the Emerging category, was awarded the highest honor as the gold recipient.

Niffer’s Place, which was nominated in the 51-100 employees category, was the silver award winner.

Hornsby Farms (1-10 employees) and Tacorita (11-50 employees) were both finalists in their respective categories.

Businesses were judged based on leadership and community support, chamber involvement and business success. This past spring, the Auburn Chamber of Commerce invited the community to submit businesses in the four categories for the chamber’s Best of Small Business awards.

The top nominees were then presented for a community-wide vote. The Auburn Chamber then submitted the winners of each category to the Alabama Small Business Awards, which are presented by the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama (CCAA).

The awards were announced at the Business Council of Alabama and CCAA’s annual meeting, which was held virtually on Friday, Dec. 4. Additionally, the winners of each category will be recognized at the Auburn Chamber annual meeting.
