6A OPELIKA

The varsity Opelika Bulldog volleyball team secured a super regional berth by winning the 6A Area 04 Area tournament, which the Bulldogs hosted in Opelika. As the No. 1 seed, Opelika swept No. 4 Valley, 3-0, to advance to the area championship game.  The Bulldogs advanced to face No. 3 Eufaula, and dispelled the Tigers, 3-1, to win the area.

“The girls have worked really hard to come together and turn this season around,” said Opelika head coach Robin Roberts. “Our ultimate goal was to repeat as area champs for the fourth year in a row. Once we accomplished that, our new goal was to take back the area tournament championship. I’m proud of how hard the girls worked to achieve these goals.”

The Bulldogs began super regional action with a matchup against Hillcrest in Montgomery on Wednesday, but results were not available at press time.
