Donald Ray Rogers

Donald Ray Rogers, 79, of Opelika passed away Sunday, October 12, 2014.     Don was born in Metropolis, Illinois on May 19, 1935 to Anna Mae Holder and Lloyd Donald Rogers. He married Margaret Lou Sumner on June 11, 1953. Don served his country during the Korean War.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Southern Illinois University, where he served as a police officer, continuing his career with Illinois Wesleyan University and then Auburn University.

Don was an active member of Pierce Chapel United Methodist Church.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, June Demers. He is survived by his wife, Margaret, sisters Julia Schluter and Pat Hinkle, sons Steve Rogers and Bruce Rogers, daughter Karla Armington, and grandchildren Travis, Tyler and Abby Rogers, and Kelly, Jacob and David Armington.

Visitation was Wednesday,   Oct. 15 from 6-8p.m. at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.

Memorial services were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Jeffcoat-Trant Chapel. Reverends Daniel Randall and Dr. Paul McCracken officiated.

Mary M. Jenkins 

Graveside service for Mary M. Jenkins, 95, of Opelika was 2 p.m. Saturday, October 11, 2014 in Garden Hills Cemetery. Reverend Gary Perry officiated.

Visitation was held Saturday, one hour prior to the service at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.

Mrs. Moore passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Northridge Assisted Living Facility.

She was born August 6, 1919 in Lee County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie E. Jenkins. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family respectfully declines the gift of flowers, and suggests memorial contributions be directed to a favorite charity.

Stephanie Murphy and baby Addison Murphy 

Funeral services for Stephanie Murphy and baby Addison Murphy of Abbeville, AL, formerly of Opelika was held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Believers Church 1415 Moores Mill Rd Auburn, Alabama. Dr. Benny Hand officiated. Burial was held in Garden Hills Cemetery. Visitation is at the church Thursday, two hours prior to the service.

Mrs. Murphy and Addison passed away Monday, October 13, 2014.

Survivors include husband/father, James “Bo” Murphy; children/siblings, Michael Murphy, Amber Murphy, Trevor Murphy, Kaitlyn Murphy, Carson Murphy; parents/grandparents, Joey (Sharon) Strong, James “Jim” (Fran) Murphy; brother/uncle, Eric (Stephanie) Strong; sister-in-law/aunt, Lauren (Jeremiah) Pugh; brother-in-law/uncle, Michael (Kasey) Murphy; and grandparents/great grandparents, Roy D. (Melba) Strong, Frank (Barbara) James, Ted (Rita) Murphy; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
