The Opelika Chamber of Commerce hosted Snopelika at Courthouse Square Tuesday night. The annual event kicked off the holiday season of events for Opelika. During the event, snow-blowing machines blanketed the square with artificial snow, the Opelika Police Department held a snowball fight and vendors offered food and gifts to attendees. Members of the OHS Marching Band, Spirit of the South, led the crowd down 9th Street to the corner of Railroad Avenue where Opelika Mayor Gary Fuller lit the city’s official Christmas tree with a switch designed and created by OHS student Kyler Mitchell. Mitchell is pictured in the above photo with Fuller and Opelika Chamber President Ali Rauch.
