Margie B. Hilyer of Salem was born to the late Otis and Iola Thomas Barrett in Georgia on March 22, 1949, and passed away on Jan. 15, 2021. She was 71 years old.

Margie was preceded in death by her brothers, Stoney Barrett, Marvin Barrett, and Stanley Barrett; sisters, Hazel Drennen and Betty Wells.

Mrs. Hilyer is survived by her husband, Eric Hilyer; daughters, Stephanie Brown (Darren), Brandy Tucker (Allan), Kelli Roland (Benji), Haley Adams (Nathan), Ellie Wallace (Aaron), Erica Hilyer (Will), Heather Olinger (Brian), and Kristen Holt; grandchildren, Drew (Lindsey), Toree (Bill), Mitchell (Katlyn), Sydney (David), Kendall (Nathan), Triston, Hunter, Grayson, Karston, Bentleigh, Lukas, Parker, Lawson, Tyson, and Gabriel; great-grands, Cohen, Cooper, Scout, Palmer; sister, Maxine Glines; and dearest friend, Tammy Keeble.

Margie’s love for the Lord and her church was evident in her everyday life. Her long and detailed prayer list included those closest to her and ones she would never meet. She always said that it was “a calling from God to serve and take care of His children” if she was going to ask for His protection over her own.

Visitation was held on Jan. 19, 2021 in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m.

The funeral service will be held in the Chapel at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home on Jan. 20, 2021 at 11 a.m. with sister, Sylvia Howze officiating. Interment will follow at Garden Hills Cemetery.
