Before each Summer Swing performance for the last 16 years, a group of runners from the area get together to run five kilometers around the Denson Drive area.
Doug Underwood sets the clock and is the manpower behind the run. Recently, between 25 to 40 runners took to the streets around Denson Recrecreation Center.
This year, Randy Boone of CarePoint Resources provided CPR and safety demonstrations for the group before one of the runs. Visit CarePoint’s website at www.carepointresources.com for more information about the demonstrations.
The races are open to anyone. The fee is $1 per race or $10 for the entire series but the event is free for those 18 years old and under. Races will be held through the end of the Opelika Parks & Rec Summer Swing season.
