Needham Brian Jones
June 14, 1929 – June 2, 2015

Needham Brian Jones, 85, of Aliceville, Alabama, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 2, 2015.
He leaves his wife of 66 years, Betty Jo (White) Jones; his daughter, Katrina (Robert) Bennett; his two sons, Brian (Michelle) Jones and Russell (Phyllis) Jones; six grandchildren – Rachel, Paul, Steven, Amanda, Chad, and Amy; 14 great grandchildren; his sister, Marianne Junkins; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and many close friends.
He was a graduate of Aliceville High School and the College of Charleston.
Needham served his country honorably in the United States Navy from 1953-1974. After retiring from the Navy he began his career in the banking industry where he served as the Vice President/Comptroller at the East Side Bank in Chicago, Illinois, for 20 years.
After retirement, he and his wife, Betty Jo moved back to Alabama, eventually settling in Auburn. Needham was an active member of the Opelika First Baptist Church, where he belonged to the Led Better Sunday school class. He was a kind, caring, dependable man who was the rock of his family.
A celebration of his life was held June 9, The family received friends from 1-2 p.m., with a memorial service was at 2 p.m. at Jeffcoat Trant Funeral Home.
The family asks that donations be made to the Opelika First Baptist Church or the hospice care provider, Bethany House of East Alabama Medical Center, 1171 Gatewood Dr., Building 100, Auburn, AL 36830. The family would like to especially thank the staff for their loving compassion and care.

Susie Inez
Smallwood Adkins

Susie Inez (Smallwood) Adkins was born September 25, 1920, in Monroe, Georgia (Walton County) to Isaac Littleton Smallwood and Susie Emily (Reeves) Smallwood. Susie passed away on May 30, 2015, at the age of 94.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert G. Adkins; her parents; and eight siblings: brothers, Robert, Ike, M.L., and Buck Smallwood; sisters, Decie Hodge, Dessie Evans, Dorothy Kinney and Della Coffer. She is survived by two sons, Rudy Adkins (Brenda) and John Adkins (Loretta); five grandchildren, Cindy Vaille, Angela McKee, Pam Brown, Scott Adkins and Steven Adkins; and nine great-grandchildren, Collin Vaille, Caitlin Vaille, Ciaran Vaille, Jordan Creath, Jacob McKee, Avery Brown, Steel Adkins,  Aurora Adkins and Benjamin Adkins due in July.
Susie attended school in Monroe, Georgia, and later lived with her sister Decie and her husband in Warrenville, South Carolina.  In 1940, she moved to Opelika where she lived with her sister Dessie Evans and her husband.  Susie went to work at Pepperell Mills in 1940 where she met the love of her life and future husband, Hubert G. Adkins.   They were married October 10, 1941, and enjoyed 73+ years of marriage before Mr. Adkins passed away in February 2015.  Susie worked at Pepperell for 43 years before retiring in 1983.  She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be sorely missed by all her family and friends.
Services were held at the Jeffcoat -Trant Chapel at 1 p.m. June 6  with visitation at 11;30 a.m. at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home. Interment was at Garden Hills Cemetery.  Dr. Rusty Sowell officiated.

Mary Elizabeth
“Betty” Preskitt

Funeral service for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Hollinger, 80, of Opelika was 3 p.m.  June 5 at Jeffcoat-Trant Chapel.  Reverend Mike Newman officiated. Burial was held in Garden Hills Cemetery. Visitation was June 5 from 2-3 p.m. at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hollinger passed away at EAMC, May 2. She was born April 8, 1935, in Elmore County, Alabama.
She is survived by her husband, C. A. Hollinger; son, David Barber (Annette); daughters, Angela Greathouse, Debra Barber (Lisa Hook); grandchildren, Donna McBurney (Scott); Duane Smith (Jessica), Brandy Garrett (Tom), Amanda Rumph, Adam Lollis, Stacy Franks (Angela), Shane Franks (Tiana), Angela Barber, Tabitha Hook, Eva Hook, Destiny Hook; great-grandchildren, Alexann Kriel, Grace Kriel, Harrison Kriel, Clayton McBurney, Michaela White, Michael Smith, Keegan Smith, Isabelle Smith, Lexi Garrett, Hunter Garrett, Brittney Franks, Tori Franks, Savannah Franks, Brooklyn Franks, Kaleigh Tilton, Tristan Tilton, and Izabella Smaha-Hook.
The family extends a special thank you to EAMC, Dr. Hubard, Dr. Rajan, EAMC Chaplin Laura Eason, and to all the medical staff in the ICU department.

Laurie Stahl

Mrs. Laurie Stahl of Auburn formerly of North Salem, New York, died peacefully on May 29. She joins her husband William in eternal rest.  She is survived by her daughter Mary Angiolillo and her husband Daniel, and their children Danielle, William and Patrick and her daughter Suzanne Oates and her husband Frank, and their children Holly Earhart and Dana Oates-Wright.
Laurie was a devoted wife, loving mother and adoring grandmother as well as a great grandmother to Adelaide and Coralie.  Laurie taught Humanities and retired from the North Salem school district in New York.  She was active in St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for many years.
A Memorial Mass with a gathering afterwards was held on June 6 at 2 pm at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Auburn.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Prader Willi Alliance of New York, Inc., would be appreciated.
