James Patterson Bryan

James Patterson Bryan of Auburn, Alabama was born June 30, 1922 in East Atlanta, DeKalb County, Georgia.  He went to be with our Lord on Thursday, October 2, 2014 surrounded by family at Bethany House. Until recently, James resided most of his life in the Atlanta Area.  He was our beloved husband, father, grandfather, “Uncle James” and was a proud Veteran of World War II, having served on the USS Paul B. English in the Pacific Theater.  He was a well known and well respected self-employed general contractor in Metro Atlanta for over 67 years, having built residences, commercial properties  and churches. James is a long-time member of Smoke Rise Baptist Church, Stone Mountain, Georgia.  He was a beloved member of the Seekers Sunday School Class and served as a deacon.

He is survived by his wife, Inez Foster Bryan; son Danny William Bryan (Mary) of Tucker, Ga; daughter Darlene B. Hawksley (Don) of Vinings, GA; son James Richard Bryan (Kim) Loganville, Ga; daughter Arlene M. Kirkland (Johnny) Auburn, Alabama; sister Elaine B. Loggins, Suwannee, Ga; grandchildren, Troy, Craig, Chadwick, Danielle, Michelle, Kristin, Loren, Les, Britt, Barry and Brandie; and 16 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents Wlliam Jennings and Gladys Singleton Bryan, sister  and a daughter, Polly M. Claxton.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at 11:00 am, Smoke Rise Baptist Church, 5901 Hugh Howell Road, Stone Mountain, Georgia 30087 in the Main Sanctuary.  A Visitation/Reception will be held for family and friends immediately following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall.
