The Lee-Russell Council of Governments Alabama Cares Program has provided approximately 450 COVID-19 car kits (pictured left) to caregivers of the elderly and high-risk. The kits include masks, hand sanitizer, gloves, disinfectant wipes and disinfectant air spray. There is also a packet with information on how to use the PPE and the best practices for staying COVID-19-free. They plan to do another such giveaway in August in Russell County if they are able to acquire the same supplies. Jeanna Thomas, Senior Medicaid Waiver Case Manager and LRCOG, said, “We just wanted to make sure that the COVID funding we get is serving the community.”
