BEAUREGARD — Shenan Motley, former head coach at Wadley High School, has been named head football coach at Beauregard High School. Motley was introduced as the head coach at the Lee County Board of Education meeting May 13.
Motley comes to Beauregard with 13 years of coaching experience at the high school level, including seven years as a head football coach. He led Wadley High School to the AHSAA State Championship game and finished as the runner-up in 2021. In 2024, his team returned to the state championship and claimed the school’s first title. Motley was named the ASWA 1A Coach of the Year in 2021 and 2024.
“In any staff vacancy, you hope that there is a rich applicant pool from which to select, and you hope that not only can you identify the best fit but that you can get them on your campus,” said BHS Principal Richard Brown. “In conducting this coaching search, we were looking for someone who had achieved success as a head football coach and who wanted to be a part of the Beauregard community. The son of a football coach, coach Motley understands the role of football in a school and community, and his career shows that he understands what it takes to compete at a championship level. We are beyond excited for a new direction for our football program and to welcome Coach Shenan Motley to Beauregard High School.”
Motley earned a master’s degree in secondary education from LaGrange College in 2012 and holds teaching certification in physical education and general social science and driver education. He and his wife, Leslie, have two children, Drake and Bo.
