Vestavia native Abbie Stockard crowned Jan. 5 in Orlando
Abbie Stockard, an Auburn University student majoring in nursing, was crowned as Miss America 2025 on Jan. 5 at Walt Disney Theater in Orlando. A member of AU’s Tiger Paws Dance Team, Stockard was chosen as Miss Alabama in June 2024. She beat out 52 competitors to win the Miss America title, which came with a $50,000 scholarship. For the talent portion of the competition, she danced to Lauren Daigle’s 2018 hit song, You Say. During the interview portion Stockard was quizzed on unemployment and labor force participation of people ages 25-54 since the COVID-19 epidemic, to which she encouraged vocational training in “new skills” and called for fresh ideas to grow the current workforce and expand existing industries. Stockard said her goal is to earn a doctorate of nurse anesthesia, specializing in pediatrics. She take the next year off from school to fulfill her duties as Miss America — traveling across the U.S. for public appearances and serving as a brand ambassador for the Miss America organization and using her platform to promote her chosen philanthropy, Cystic Fibrosis awareness. When her reign concludes, she will return to AU for her senior year. Her goal is to eventually earn a doctorate of nurse anesthesia, specializing in pediatrics. Stockard and two siblings all attend Auburn University. Her twin brother, Bradley, is a fellow nursing major, and their younger sister, Lilly, is a freshman.
