Special to the Opelika Observer
Forty-five seventh-grade students at Opelika Middle School were recently recognized as Duke Tip Scholars. According to the 7th Grade Duke University Talent Identification Program, a Duke Scholar is an academically gifted student who has shown exceptional potential on their ACT ASPIRE test scores. In order to be eligible as a Duke Scholar a student must be a current seventh grader and score 95 percent or higher on the ASPIRE in either math or reading. Qualifying as a Duke Scholar provides students the opportunity to take the college-level SAT or ACT.
