Above, community leaders along with hundreds of Opelika citizens turned their porch lights on and came out to participate in Tuesday’s National Night Out event. The event kicked off with a Unity March that departed from Antioch Baptist Church and ended at Covington Recreation Center. The event is in its ninth year in Opelika, and communities across the country participate annually. It was founded by the National Association of Town Watch with a goal to bring communities together against violence, drugs and crime. Below, Mattie Clark, organizer of the NNO event, speaks to the crowd.
