The Opelika Chamber is hosting “Lunch at the Chamber,” a weekly food truck and pop-up vendor event held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Monday at 200 S. 6th St., Opelika.

Tuesdays in the Garden will take place at St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church, 136 E. Magnolia Ave., Auburn, from 2 to 4 p.m. each Tuesday. All are welcome to drop by St. Dunstan’s, enter the beautiful garden, relax and enjoy its beauty. Seating will be provided. St. Dunstan’s has one of the last green-space areas in downtown Auburn. Opelika Community Theatre will present “Legally Blonde Jr.” on Aug. 27, 29 and 30 and Sept. 3, 5 and 6. The musical is presented through special arrangement with Musical Theatre International.
AUG. 27 — THE GREAT GROWN-UP SPELLING BEE
The Lee County Literacy Coalition will host The Great Grown-Up Spelling Bee on Thursday, Aug. 27, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Nonprofit Center of East Alabama, located at 1944 Opelika Road in Auburn. The event will feature door prizes, food, cocktails and fun. Tickets are $40, team sponsorships are $325 and program ads are available for $50 and $100. AUG. 28 — FINAL WEEK OF STREET CORNER JAM
Every Friday night in June, July and August, MARIA Jewelers, located at 231 S. 8th St. in downtown Opelika, will be hosting an evening of free music and jamming from 6 to 8:30 or 9 p.m. in front of the business (inside on rainy days). The event is open and free to everyone — any musician or singer, beginner or semi-pro, is encouraged to come perform. Performers must bring their own portable instrument and any power equipment needed — microphones, a mixer and power amp with large speakers will be supplied as well as about eight folding chairs furnished for musicians and about 25 to 30 for audience members. All music genres, such as country, jazz, pop and more, are welcome. Please no rap and nothing with vulgar language. Order will be random as long as everyone gets chances to play or sing. AUG. 29 — FINAL CITY MARKET OF THE SEASON: City Market will wrap up its 2026 season Saturday, Aug. 29, from 8 to 11 a.m. at Town Creek Park. The final market will feature fresh produce, locally made goods, handcrafted items, live music and children’s activities. Community members are invited to come out for one last Saturday of the season and support local growers, makers and artisans.
AUG. 30 — MAGICAL FAIRY PARTY WITH GIRL SCOUTS Girl Scouts will host a free Magical Fairy Party from 2 to 4 p.m. at Shady Park, 2808 3rd Ave. in Opelika. Activities will include free fairy wings, magic wands, fairy gliders, a nature scavenger hunt, cyanotype sun art and fairy-spotting binoculars. SEPT. 14 —AU HOMECOMING PARADE
Join the Auburn Family for Homecoming 2026 and enjoy a weekend filled with tradition. The celebration will begin on Friday evening with a parade in downtown Auburn. A pep rally on Samford Lawn will immediately follow the parade. Please be aware that downtown street parking along the parade route will close at 3 p.m. and road closures will start at 4 p.m. on Friday.
On Saturday, Sept. 26, the Auburn Tigers will take on Vanderbilt in Jordan-Hare Stadium (time TBA). Miss Homecoming will be announced at halftime.

WWAP Village will host The Purpose Gala on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 203 S. Railroad Ave. in Opelika. The formal event will celebrate young people for leadership, talent, entrepreneurship, creativity, academics, service and community impact. The evening will include youth awards, live performances, a red-carpet experience, music, dancing and the crowning of a King and Queen of Purpose. The event time will be announced. DEC. 5 — CHRISTMAS MARKET — Auburn United Women in Faith will host its annual Christmas Market on Saturday, Dec. 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Auburn United Methodist Church, 137 S. Gay St. in Auburn. Shoppers can browse local arts, crafts, jewelry, home decor, baked goods, frozen casseroles and soups. Proceeds from the market will support local missions through Auburn United Women in Faith. The vendor registration deadline is Friday, Nov. 13.
