OPELIKA — As Opelika Community Theatre prepares to celebrate 11 years of serving the Greater Opelika-Auburn community, the organization is inviting past and present members, volunteers, supporters, parents and anyone interested in becoming part of OCT’s future to attend a special commmunity meeting on Sunday, July 26.
This community gathering will introduce OCT’s vision for the future and provide an opportunity to learn about new educational programs, volunteer opportunities, committees, productions and ways to become involved in one of East Alabama’s fastest-growing community arts organizations.
“Our theatre has grown tremendously over the past 11 years,” said Marty Moore, founder and executive artistic director of Opelika Community Theatre. “As we continue to grow, we also want to strengthen our organization by creating more opportunities for community involvement, developing future leaders and ensuring that everyone has a place to serve. This meeting is about inviting our community to help write the next chapter of OCT.”
During the meeting, attendees will hear about several exciting initiatives, including:
- The continued growth of O-ACT Academy and its new educational direction through the S.T.A.G.E. Pathways program.
- The Penguin Project (pairing individuals with special needs with partnering mentors to create a theatrical performing experience).
- C.A.S.T. (Creative Aging for Senior Theatre Program).
- TAG (Theatre Action Guild), a new volunteer initiative designed to support productions, educational programs, fundraising efforts and community outreach.
- New volunteer, committee and leadership opportunities.
- OCT’s vision for strengthening communication, organization and community involvement as the theatre continues to grow.
- Upcoming productions, educational opportunities and ways for individuals and families to become involved.
The meeting is designed to welcome returning volunteers, reconnect with former members, introduce new families to the organization and provide everyone with an opportunity to become involved in shaping OCT’s future.
Whether you’ve been with OCT since the beginning, participated in a single production or have always wanted to become involved, we invite you to join us.
The community meeting will be held Sunday, July 26, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Opelika Community Theatre located at 1220 Fox Run Ave. in USA Town Center.
Everyone is welcome. No theatre experience is necessary.
