OPELIKA — East Alabama Arts has announced the lineup for its 2026-27 Performance Series, featuring four performances at the Opelika Center for the Performing Arts.
The season will include internationally recognized musicians, regional student performers and a high-energy brass ensemble, with season tickets starting at $100.
- The series opens with Nobuntu on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2026, at 3 p.m. The female a cappella quartet from Zimbabwe has earned international acclaim for performances ranging from traditional Zimbabwean music to Afro-jazz and gospel. The ensemble uses pure vocals, minimal percussion, traditional instruments such as the mbira, also known as a thumb piano, and authentic dance movements.
- The Andrew Sords String Trio will perform Sunday, Feb. 28, 2027, at 3 p.m. Violinist Andrew Sords has performed for audiences across three continents as both a soloist and member of his Los Angeles-based trio with cellist John Walz and pianist Timothy Durkovic. Known for his technical skill and expressive style, Sords has appeared with orchestras around the world, including the Glasgow Philharmonia.
- The Southern Union Dancers will take the stage Tuesday, March 23, 2027, at 7 p.m. The resident dance company of Southern Union State Community College showcases student performers under the direction of Sonja Fincher. The group’s performances feature a mix of ballet, jazz, musical theater and modern dance.
- The season will conclude with Brass Queens on Monday, May 3, 2027, at 7 p.m. The Brooklyn-based, female-led brass band blends New Orleans jazz traditions with the energy of New York City. The group’s performances incorporate pop, rock and reggaeton and have earned appearances at major events and venues, including the Met Gala and “Good Morning America.”
Season tickets are available with prices beginning at $100. Organizers encourage patrons to reserve seats early for the upcoming series.
