OPELIKA — Downtown Opelika will once again transform into a winter wonderland as the city presents Opelika’s Very Merry Christmas, running Wednesday, Nov. 26 through Saturday, Jan. 2. This annual celebration unites residents, businesses and visitors for a season filled with community traditions, dazzling displays and festive events across the city.
Each year, downtown Opelika glows with lights, decorations and holiday scenes that create a magical atmosphere for all ages. The monthlong celebration is made possible through partnerships with local organizations, neighborhood groups and city departments, all working together to highlight Opelika’s spirit of collaboration and joy.
“Christmas in Opelika is truly something special,” said Leigh Krehling, community relations officer for the city of Opelika. “From the lights downtown to families laughing at our holiday events, there’s a spirit of togetherness that shines brighter than ever this time of year. It’s a season that reminds us how lucky we are to call Opelika home.”

• Dec. 5 – Snopelika Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting | 5:30 p.m.
• Dec. 10 through 14 – Victorian Front Porch Christmas Tour
• Dec. 12 – Christmas in a Railroad Town | 6 to 9 p.m.
• Dec. 12 and 13 – Rocky Brook Rocket Reindeer Express | 5 to 9 p.m.
• Dec. 20 – Winter Wonder Workshop | 10 a.m. to noon
Additional activities include Christmas in Camelot, Bring Opie Home for Christmas, the OHS/OMS Holiday Choral Concert, Opelika Holiday Light Fight, Where’s Theodore Elf Hunt and the Fox Run/OMS Christmas Band Concert, rounding out a calendar full of opportunities for families to gather and celebrate the season.
The holiday festivities reflect Opelika’s deep sense of community and its commitment to creating experiences that bring people together. From timeless traditions to new events, Opelika’s Very Merry Christmas continues to spread joy throughout the city and welcome visitors to share in its magic.
