BEULAH — After both making the playoffs last year, the Beulah High School girls and boys varsity basketball teams tipped off their 2025-26 basketball seasons in Chambers County against LaFayette High School on Nov. 14.
While the Lady Bobcats and Bobcats looked to build on their previous successes, they will have to wait for their first wins after falling to the Lady Bulldogs and Bulldogs 44-25 and 67-57, respectively.
To kick the two varsity games off, the Lady Bobcats scrapped and clawed their way through a tough first half.
However, the Lady Bulldogs’ offensive star power was eventually too much for BHS to overcome as Andereka Williams and Z’niyah Boston combined to score 36 of LHS’ 44 points.
Williams led all scorers with 22 points, and Boston chipped in an additional 14 points for the Lady Bulldogs.
In the boys’ game, it initially appeared the Bobcats would avenge the Lady Bobcats after dictating the pace of play for most of the first half and pulling out to an early nine point lead.
However, the Bulldogs slowly worked their way back into the game and took the lead in the second half with renewed energy on both ends of the court.
Cam Baker led all scorers with 20 points, while Beau Duck contributed 18 points for BHS.
Jayden Thomas and Amilleon Huguley led LHS with 17 and 12 points, respectively.
