The Lee County Humane Society has been selected as a beneficiary of the Community Bag Program for the month of September. Launched in February 2019, the reusable bag program facilitates community support with the goal to make a difference in the communities where shoppers live and work.
Store leadership at the Opelika Winn-Dixie store selected the humane society as the program’s September beneficiary. The Lee County Humane Society will receive a $1 donation every time the $2.50 reusable Community Bag is purchased at this location during September unless otherwise directed by the customer through the Giving Tag attached to the bag.
These donations will help the Lee County Humane Society to fulfill its mission by providing necessary care to stray and unwanted animals, offering an array of community programs as well as educating the public about responsible pet ownership.
The Lee County Humane Society is a nonprofit located in Auburn. Founded in 1974, the humane society has served the citizens and animals of Auburn and Opelika for several decades and envisions a future in which animals are valued, pet overpopulation is eliminated and every adoptable companion animal has a loving and responsible home.
