A funeral service for Brady Johnson, 67, formally of Opelika, was held at 10 a.m. on Oct. 29, 2011, at Peterson and Williams Chapel with interment in Evergreen Cemetery. Rev. George C. Bandy officiated.
Johnson passed away on Oct. 21, 2011, in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a graduate of J. W. Darden High School and received an honorable discharge from the U. S. Army. Following his discharge, he relocated to Brooklyn, N.Y. where he retired from the New York City Transit Authority (MTA).
Survivors include one daughter, Toria Elsia Johnson; one brother Willie (Emilia) Johnson, West Palm Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Essie L. Houston, Opelika and Emma L. Frederick, Virginia Beach, Va.; a devoted friend, Alberta Smith, Brooklyn, N.Y.; seven nieces: Betty Reed, East Orange, N.J, Bertha Pearson, Prattville, Bobby Crab, Opelika, Carrie (Claude) Foushee, Jacksonville, Fla., Dorothy (Rev. Willie) Burton, Phenix City, Robin Span, Elgin, Ill. and Ondie L. Frederick and daughter, Anya both of Bronx, N.Y.; one nephew Robert Reed, Opelika; one great-nephew, Damen; three great-nieces, Crystal, Tiffany and Stacey all of Elgin, Ill. and a host of other relatives and friends.
