AUBURN — Frozen yogurt chain SweetFrog held its grand opening in Auburn on Jan. 1. Located at 1800 Samford Trace Court, the store offers low-fat, no sugar added and dairy free options in a multitude of flavors with several available toppings.
The first SweetFrog opened in Richmond, Virginia, in 2009, and the chain has grown to more than 300 locations nationally. In 2018, a subsidiary of MTY Food Group acquired SweetFrog and moved its headquarters to Scottsdale, Arizona. The interior of every store is decorated in green and pink and highlights the company’s mascots, two frogs named Scoop and Cookie.
Husband and wife, Rob and Dana Pate, are the co-owners of the Auburn SweetFrog. Both Rob and Dana graduated from Auburn in 2002. Pate was a starter for the Auburn football team from 1997 to 2000.
The Auburn store has nine flavor stations featuring basic soft serve flavors like strawberry, vanilla and chocolate along with featured flavors like pineapple, orange and raspberry. Toppings include fresh fruit, candy or different varieties of nuts and cereals. Other topping choices include boba poppers, mochi and sprinkles.
Customers can choose from three cups sizes and can choose up to three toppings for no addi-tional charge. Cup sizes are 12 oz, 16 oz and 25 oz. Pricing varies because the treats are sold by the ounce.
The SweetFrog in Auburn is open seven days a week from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
