Monday night, the varsity Smiths Station girls’ flag football team defeated Wenoah high school, 14-6, to advance to the semi finals of the AHSAA Flag Football Tournament. Only one team — John Carroll High School — stands in the way of the Panthers reaching the state championship. If Smiths defeat John Carroll this week, a matchup against either Hewitt-Trussville or Oxford High School awaits in the final at Protective Stadium in Birmingham on Dec. 1 at 3 p.m.
