Andrew C. Story, Jr. died peacefully at his home on Jan. 29, 2021 surrounded by loved ones. Andy was born Oct. 11, 1946 in Opelika to the late Andrew Story, Sr. and Susan Ingram Story.
Andy graduated Opelika High School with the class of 1965 and was still close to and grateful for the close friends he still had from his youth.
Andy spent the majority of his life working in and later managing the family business his father started, Story’s Sporting Goods. There are not many outdoorsman in East Alabama that haven’t gone to see “Mr. Andy” for a gun or just to sit in folding chairs to drink coffee while solving the worlds problems around the gun case. Since selling the business in order to retire, Andy has spent his time with his grandsons and in the last two years, faithfully caring for the love of his life during her fight against cancer.
Andy was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Ruth Story.
Andy is survived by his three daughters; Rowena Story of Montgomery, Michelle Henry of Birmingham, and Jodi (Marc) Wells of Opelika. He is also survived by the two lights of his life, his grandsons, Andrew Wells and Lucas Wells.
Graveside service were held at 10 a.m. Feb. 2, 2021 at Garden Hills Cemetery with Dr. Rusty Sowell officiating.
Friends were received in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home, Feb. 2, 2021 from 10:30 a.m. until Noon.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Providence Baptist Church Building Fund.
