William Barry Farr
Funeral service for Mr. William Barry Farr, 68, of Opelika, Alabama, was 11 a.m. May 9 at Jeffcoat-Trant Chapel. Reverend Ralph Cotton officiated. Burial was held in Garden Hills Cemetery. Visitation was May 8 from 6-8 p.m. at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.
Mr. Farr passed away at Mid-Town Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia, on May 6. He was born December 20, 1946, in Valley, Alabama. He was an avid Auburn Fan and his closest friends nicknamed him BTM “Barry the Mechanic.” He also loved to fish.
Mr. Farr is survived by his mother, Mary Helen Farr; son, Billy (Jane) Farr; daughter, Kim (Randy) Hollingsworth; grandchildren, Haley Hollingsworth, Brooke Hollingsworth, Colton Hollingsworth, Gabriel Farr, Andrew Farr, Nicholas Farr, Charley Hoehaver; sisters, Teresa (Bob) Haney, Ann (Russell) Hiett; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his father, Reverend Bill Farr; sister, Diane Farr Moore; and brother, Mike Farr.

David Van Averhart
Funeral service for Mr. David Van Averhart, 67, of Opelika, Alabama, was 3 p.m. May 9 at Pierce Chapel United Methodist Church. Reverend Paul McCracken officiated and visitation followed the service.
Averhart passed away at the Bethany House in Auburn May 5. He was born August 22, 1947, in Jefferson County, Alabama. He had been a resident of Opelika for the past nine years. He was previously employed by Alabama Lock & Key of Birmingham for 25 years and served in the US Marines during the Vietnam War. Dave was a strong Christian and attended Pierce Chapel United Methodist Church.
Averhart is survived by his two sons, Josh (Charity) Averhart of Clanton, Van (Alexa) Averhart of Opelika; five grandchildren, Jayden, Cayleigh, Jeanne, Lauren, Gunnar and Jaeger Averhart; five siblings, Alan (Sandra) Averhart of Ft. Myers, Fla., Jeanne Averhart, Joanne Averhart Mary (John) Reeves, and Pat (Jimmy) Mayton all of Birmingham.

Dorothy Smallwood
Kenney
Funeral service for Mrs. Dorothy Kenney, 93, of Dadeville, Alabama, was 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 12 at Jeffcoat-Trant Chapel. Minister Wilber Bass officiated. Burial was held in Rosemere Cemetery. Visitation was April 11 from 5-7 p.m. at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.
Mrs. Kenny passed away at Lake Martin Community Hospital Thursday, May 7, 2015. She was born October 30, 1921, in Monroe, Georgia. She had been a long time resident of Opelika. Mrs. Kenney was retired from West Point Pepperell Manufacturing Company with more than 30 years of service.
Mrs. Kenney is survived by her daughter, Dianne (S.J.) Segrest of Opelika; grandson, Noah Segrest of Auburn; great-granddaughter, Brittany Segrest; great-great-grandchildren, Josie Delanie Bridge, Jonathan Bridge; sister, Susie Adkins of Opelika; and several nieces and nephews.

Linda Kenney Young
Mrs. Linda Kenney Young, age 70, of Pepperell, died Saturday, May 9, 2015, at her home. She was a lifelong resident of Opelika’s Pepperell Community and was a member of Pepperell Baptist Church.
A graveside service was held Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. in Rosemere Cemetery with the Reverend Ralph Cotton officiating. Visitation was Monday from 6- 8 p.m. at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.
Her survivors include: husband, Charles Anthony Young of Opelika; two daughters, Lynn (Ervin) Freeman of Opelika, and Traci (Greg) Poole of LaGrange, Georgia; three sons Jay (LeeAnn) Heiser of Smiths Station, Davey and Kenny; one brother Fletcher Ray (Betty) Kenney of Loachapoka, Alabama; 9 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a special friend, Jack Zunic.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Fletcher Kenney and Lynease W. Kenney, and her brother Joe Kenney.

Ernest Lee
Hollingshead, Sr.
Mr. Ernest Lee “Son” Hollingshead, Sr., lifelong resident of Hayneville, Alabama, died Sunday, May 10, 2015, at his daughter’s (Gail) home in Auburn, Alabama, after suffering a heart attack in November 2014. He was born March 31, 1928, in Lowndes County, Alabama. Funeral service was at the graveside in Hayneville Cemetery at 11 a.m. May 12. Harry Ward, Jr., his grandson, performed the service.
Mr. Hollingshead is survived by two daughters, Charlotte (Danny) McDonald and Gail Ward Hollingshead Cox; 6 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a daughter Ernestine Hollingshead and a son Ernest Lee Hollingshead, Jr. Mr. Hollingshead was the last to die of 13 siblings.
The family would like to thank Clarence Holley for his dedication and helping as a care giver for Mr. Hollingshead.
Also, they would like to thank Alacare Home Health and Hospice, specifically, Linda and Chasika, who primarily took care of him and Alacare’s Chaplain Tim Calloway. Daddy was always happy to see him.
