Tiara Baker, a 19-year-old freshman at Southern Union State Community College and 2014 graduate of Beauregard High School, was recently selected as World’s Glamorous Miss Alabama, 2015. As such, Baker will represent Alabama at the World’s Glamorous Miss National Pageant in Las Vegas, Nev. on Aug. 4-8, 2015.
Baker, daughter of Rodney and Angel Baker of Beauregard, is pursuing a degree in Spanish with the goal of becoming a translator. She is excited to have the chance to compete for the title of World’s Glamorous Miss.
“I can hardly wait to represent my wonderful state this summer and, hopefully, bring home the crown,” Baker said.
The national winner will receive a college scholarship, crown, banner, trophy, modeling contract, a national photo shoot and will be featured in national advertising.
Baker is an active member of Deliverance Holiness Church in Auburn.
Her role as World’s Glamorous Miss Alabama has presented her with several opportunities to serve others. Baker said one of the best opportunities she has received through World’s Glamorous Miss is the chance to help people. Her latest service project was assisting the community market and the East Alabama Food Bank.
“It’s great to have the opportunity to give back to the community on a larger scale,” Baker said.
According to Baker, one of the best parts of holding the World’s Glamorous Miss Alabama title and competing on a national level is being able to meet so many other girls and create lifelong memories and friendships.
The pageant is judged on fun fashion-wear modeling, evening gown and a personal private interview with a panel of judges. Emphasis is placed on the importance of gaining self- confidence, learning modeling skills; as well as setting and achieving personal goals.
World’s Glamorous Miss, according to information released by the pageant, seeks to recognize the accomplishments of each state titleholder while encouraging her to set goals for the future.
Baker’s advice to younger girls looking to follow the same path is follow your dreams, and don’t give up on them.
“Always do what you’re supposed to do, no matter what everyone else is doing,” Baker said.
As her quest to become World Glamorous Miss 2015 continues, Baker is in need of assistance with pageant fees. Sponsors for Baker would be greatly appreciated, she said.
