The Community Foundation of East Alabama has announced that it is now accepting applications from nonprofits operating in Opelika for its second annual “Opelika Giving Day” scheduled for May 6. Opelika Giving Day is a 24-hour online fundraising challenge that provides an easy and exciting way for people to support their local nonprofits.
Last year, Opelika Giving Day helped raise more than $30,000 for 10 different nonprofits throughout Opelika. The Creekline Project, which provides the development of paths and nature trails along Opelika’s streams, roadways, and points of interest, achieved its goal last year by raising more than $15,000. “Opelika Giving Day is designed to celebrate the joy of helping others and inspire a new culture of giving within our community,” said Todd Rauch, vice president of the Community Foundation of East Alabama.
Applications are due by March 31, after which the selected nonprofit organizations will be notified and given the guidance and direction on how to help their fundraising project reach its goal on Opelika Giving Day. So, what can everyone do to help support Opelika Giving Day? “Whether you’re an individual, company, or organization, we invite you to participate in this special day of giving on May 6th, designed to shine a spotlight on some amazing organizations who are making a difference in the Opelika community,” Rauch said.
