AUBURN-OPELIKA — From winding neighborhood streets lined with azaleas to canopies of blooming cherry and dogwood trees, Auburn and Opelika’s annual floral trails are showcasing the best of spring across both communities.
Auburn Floral Trail
The 2026 Auburn Floral Trail is underway through April 17, inviting residents and visitors to explore a 14-mile, self-guided route showcasing the city’s spring blooms. The trail features a variety of seasonal highlights, including azaleas and flowering trees such as pear, cherry and plum.
Designed for both drivers and walkers, the trail winds through several Auburn neighborhoods where trees, shrubs and flowers have come to life following the winter months. The route is divided into a 10.5-mile south trail and a 3.5-mile north trail, with two additional bonus sections.
Wayfinding signs are posted along both routes to assist visitors, cyclists and pedestrians. For more information and an interactive map, visit auburnal.gov/floral-trail. The Auburn Floral Trail is presented by the Auburn Beautification Council, Auburn-Opelika Tourism and the city of Auburn.
Opelika’s Azalea and Dogwood Trail
Opelika’s Azalea and Dogwood Trail is in full bloom, offering a scenic drive through neighborhoods filled with vibrant spring color. The approximately 5-mile route begins and ends at the corner of Second Avenue and Eighth Street and is marked by green arrow signs with pink bows, placed by The New Blossom Shop Inc.
Coordinated each spring by Keep Opelika Beautiful, the trail draws visitors from across the region who come to enjoy the city’s blooming landscapes and historic homes. The timing of the trail varies each year, as organizers rely on peak bloom conditions determined by the weather.
Printed and online directions are available, and signage throughout the route helps guide drivers, cyclists and pedestrians along the trail. For more information and a complete list of directions, visit keepopelikabeautiful.com.
