AUBURN — The Auburn City Council is accepting applications to fill four vacancies on the Tree Commission and one vacancy on the Educational Building Authority.
An unexpired term on the Tree Commission will begin upon appointment and end Nov. 7, 2026. The other three terms will begin Nov. 8 and end on Nov. 7, 2028.
The Tree Commission makes recommendations to the council through the city manager related to tree planting programs and may recommend the types and kinds of trees to be planted on municipal streets, parks and other public places within Auburn. The commission also makes recommendations on the care and treatment of trees, provides educational programs, conducts tree giveaways and acts as tree advocates.
The Tree Commission consists of nine members who serve three-year terms. Members must be citizens of the City of Auburn. The commission meets the first Friday of each month at 11:30 a.m. at the Harris Center.
The term of the Educational Building Authority position will begin Nov. 12 and end on Nov. 11, 2031.
The Educational Building Authority was established as a financing conduit to provide assistance for improvements to educational institutions within Auburn. The authority consists of three members that serve six-year terms. To qualify, applicants must be qualified electors of the City of Auburn and own property in the municipality. The authority meets as needed.
