Bring family and friends to a relaxing walk through the woods to the viewing blinds on the lagoon on Dec. 4. The hike will be roughly two miles on wooded trails. Leaders from the FRIENDS of Wood Duck Nature Park will have loaner binoculars on hand and viewing scopes for the waterfowl. The leaders will also discuss plant and wildlife ecosystems of the preserve. Wintering ducks of several species have arrived. Eagles are often observed this time of year. Refreshments will be served at 7:30 a.m. with the walk beginning at 8 a.m.

Wood Duck Nature Park is site #10 on the Piedmont Plateau Birding Trail. We will meet at the pavilion located at 3601 Waverly Parkway in Opelika, one-half mile from the Birmingham Highway/US 280.                                                    GPS: N 32*39,193’ W 085*
