Planet Putt, formerly Scutter Putters, is under new ownership and has big plans for entertaining children in Opelika. Kyle Sandler, his wife Allie and their eight-year-old daughter Tatum are the new co-owners of the mini golf facility.
“Since I have an eight-year-old daughter, I really wanted to give kids a fun place to hang out,” Sandler said. He added the Planet Putt will be a great hang out spot for people ages eight-21.
The building has undergone remodeling, painting, and new video games have been added to the arcade. One feature that has not changed is “glow golf.” Sandler said the inside of the building was painted darker so customers could play glow-in –the-dark golf at any time of day.
To add the cherry on top of the perfect hub for kids, Planet Putt will sell snacks and slushies. On Friday and Saturday nights, there will be a live DJ playing “clean” music to create a fun and safe environment to spend time on the weekends. On Sundays, customers can get two games of golf for the price of one when they bring in a church bulletin. “That is something that isn’t a limited time offer,” Sandler said. “I’ll always do that.”
Planet Putt is available for booking for birthday parties, club events and church outings. To make Planet Putt the venue of an event or party, email parties@PlanetPutt.com.
Although Planet Putt features several attractions for children, Sandler said he has made sure the experience could be enjoyable for the entire family. Sandler has also employed off-duty members of the O.P.D. to serve as security guards on the weekends to insure safety for everyone. Currently, games can be purchased at a discounted price of $5, and all-day wristbands for $12.
Planet Putt is located in the U.S.A. Town Center at 1220 Fox Run Ave. For more information about Auburn and Opelika’s only mini gold course, call 334-203-2495 or visit Planet Putt’s Facebook page.
