At a recent meeting of the Southeastern Partnership in Amphibian and Reptilian Conservation, Observer columnist Dr. Robert Mount was recognized once more for his natural resource advocacy efforts. Mount was presented the Discovering Alabama Environmental Advocacy Award by Doug Phillips, producer of the award-winning Alabama Public Television program, Discovering Alabama.
In his remarks, Phillips mentioned that Mount authored some of the first of Alabama’s authoritative publications on herpetology (study of amphibians and reptiles). Phillips recognized Mount’s advocacy for the conservation of Alabama’s natural habitats and natural diversity. He said, “… [Mount’s]  contributions to the field, and his dedication to our natural world, have been an inspiration to much of Alabama and beyond … “and an influence to many in their wildlife careers.”
