Gloria Dell
Davis Simpson
1938-2015

Gloria Dell Davis Simpson, age 77, of Opelika went to be with The Lord, our Savior June 21. Gloria was born to Lewis W. and Grace A. Davis on June 11, 1938, in Winfield, Alabama.  Gloria lived the majority of her life in Opelika.
Gloria loved people; her family and friends meant the world to her.  She also loved gardening, her flowers and her yard.  Above all, Gloria loved the Lord. She loved to spread the word and would always offer to pray for any and all.
Gloria was a member of The Church of the Harvest and attended bible study classes at Living Way Ministries, when her health permitted.
Gloria is survived by her children, Billy Kenneth Chandler and Dianne Martinez Carlton (Leslie); her grandchildren, Bradley Kenneth Chandler (Lindsay), Justin Clint Foster (Jamie), Colin Wade Foster (Katie), William Justin Carlton (Joy); her great-grandchildren, Carson Field Foster and Kinzlee Jade Foster; three sisters, Margaret Langley, Carol (Brett) Martin, and Judy Owsley; and many nieces and nephews and loving friends.  Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Martha Faye Setzer, and Annie Raithel; and two brothers, Billy Davis and James Davis.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. June 24 at Jeffcoat-Trant Chapel. Visitation was 6-8 p.m., June 23. Rev. Tommy Howze officiated. Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home is directing.

Gloria Hicks
Emmons

Gloria Hicks Emmons, age 55, of the Murphy Lake community in Dadeville passed away last Thursday morning at the UAB Hospital in Birmingham following an extended illness.
Gloria was born February 5, 1960 in Mobile but grew up living primarily in Thomasville in Clarke County.
Gloria had worked in the banking and financial industry for many years. She was a former employee of the Auburn University Federal Credit Union in Auburn, Alabama, as well as the Four Seasons Federal Credit Union in Opelika.  She also had worked briefly for Farmers Bank of Auburn.
Gloria was a 1978 graduate of Thomasville High School, Thomasville, Alabama.  She also attended Southern Union Community College in Opelika.
Gloria was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Everett Hicks, and mother, Barbra Pugh Hicks of Pine Hill, Alabama She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Mitchell B. Emmons; daughter, Lindsey Emmons Lancaster, son in-law Andrew Lancaster, two grandsons, Tyler Andrew and Trent Mitchell Lancaster, all of Auburn; Brothers Keith Dial Hicks (Cindy) of Pine Hill, Alabama, and Timothy Charles Hicks (Kathryn) of Camden, Alabama; Mother in-law Joyce M. Ledbetter of Auburn; Sister in-law Jo Ellen Fleming (Allen) of Auburn; Brother in-law Patrick H. Emmons (Rebecca) of Post Falls, Idaho.
Her memorial service was held June 24 at Jeffcoat Trant Funeral Home. Visitation was at 1 pm with her memorial service following at 2 pm. Gloria asked that instead of flowers, donations be made in her honor to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
