AUBURN — Auburn City Schools has named Dr. Pete Forster as the district’s new assistant superintendent of business and operations following the retirement announcement of longtime administrator Dr. Dennis Veronese.

The Auburn City Schools Board of Education approved Forster for the position after Veronese announced his retirement following 25 years of service to the school system.

Forster has spent 27 years with Auburn City Schools, including 23 years in school administration and 20 years as a principal. Most recently, he served as principal of Wrights Mill Road Elementary School.

In his new role, Forster will oversee the district’s business and operational functions, including long-range planning, facilities and finance as Auburn City Schools continues to grow.

“Dr. Forster has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership throughout his career in Auburn City Schools,” Superintendent Dr. Cristen Herring said. “His understanding of our district, commitment to operational excellence and ability to strategically plan for the future make him the ideal person to serve as our Assistant Superintendent of Business and Operations. We are excited to welcome him into this important leadership role.”

Following Forster’s move to the district office, Amber Goolsby, who had served as assistant principal at Wrights Mill Road since fall 2023, was initially named interim principal.

The Board of Education has since approved Goolsby as the school’s new principal. She began her Auburn City Schools career at Wrights Mill Road in 2013 as a fourth grade teacher, became a Title I teacher in 2018 and was named assistant principal in October 2023.
