The Opelika Chamber is hosting “Lunch at the Chamber,” a weekly food truck and pop-up vendor event held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Monday at 200 S. 6th St., Opelika.

TUESDAYS IN THE GARDEN
Tuesdays in the Garden will take place at St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church, 136 E. Magnolia Ave., Auburn, from 2 to 4 p.m. each Tuesday. All are welcome to drop by St. Dunstan’s, enter the beautiful garden, relax and enjoy its beauty. Seating will be provided. St. Dunstan’s has one of the last green-space areas in downtown Auburn. Thomas Joyner, rector at St. Dunstan’s, and all its members warmly welcome everyone into our beautiful space that God has provided.
ONGOING — STREET CORNER JAM
Every Friday night in June, July and August, MARIA Jewelers, located at 231 S. 8th St. in downtown Opelika, will be hosting an evening of free music and jamming from 6 to 8:30 or 9 p.m. in front of the business (inside on rainy days). The event is open and free to everyone — any musician or singer, beginner or semi-pro, is encouraged to come perform. Performers must bring their own portable instrument and any power equipment needed — microphones, a mixer and power amp with large speakers will be supplied as well as about eight folding chairs furnished for musicians and about 25 to 30 for audience members. All music genres, such as country, jazz, pop and more, are welcome. Please no rap and nothing with vulgar language. Order will be random as long as everyone gets chances to play or sing. NOW THROUGH AUG. 29 — CITY MARKET RETURNS TO TOWN CREEK PARK
City Market will return for the 2026 season beginning Saturday, May 23, at Town Creek Park and will continue each Saturday through Aug. 29 from 8 to 11 a.m. The market features fresh produce, locally made goods, handcrafted items, live music and children’s activities. AUG. 7-16 — “SPITFIRE GRILL”
Auburn Area Community Theatre will present “Spitfire Grill” Aug. 7-16. The musical, based on the film by Lee David Zlotoff, features music and book by Fred Valgc and lyrics and a book by Fred Alley.
AUG. 8 — YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR SCHOLARSHIP GALA
The East Alabama Black Chamber of Commerce will host its Young Entrepreneur Scholarship Gala on Saturday, Aug. 8, in the Southern Room at Southern Union State Community College in Opelika. AUG. 9 AND 16 — Penguin Project informational meetings
Opelika Community Theatre will host informational meetings for The Penguin Project’s production of “Dare to Dream Jr.” on Sundays, Aug. 9 and 16, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at 1220 Fox Run Ave., Suite 216, in Opelika. The Penguin Project gives children and adults with disabilities, ages 8 and older, the opportunity to perform a modified Broadway-style show with the help of peer mentors. Peer mentors, also ages 8 and older, will work side by side with artists through rehearsals and performances. Show dates are tentatively scheduled for March 2027.

The Auburn Chamber will host a Ward 8 candidate forum Tuesday, Aug. 11, at 5:30 p.m. Candidates will be invited to offer remarks and answer questions. Additional information will be announced by the chamber.
AUG. 14 — DONUTS WITH DEPUTIES
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office will host Donuts with Deputies Friday, Aug. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the sheriff’s office, located at 1900 Frederick Road in Opelika. Community members are invited to meet local deputies and enjoy doughnuts during the informal gathering.
AUG. 17 — AUBURN MAYORAL CANDIDATE FORUM
The Auburn Chamber will host a mayoral candidate forum Monday, Aug. 17, at 5:30 p.m. Candidates will be invited to offer remarks and answer questions. Full event details will be announced by the Auburn Chamber of Commerce.
AUG. 27 — “LEGALLY BLONDE JR.”
Opelika Community Theatre will present “Legally Blonde Jr.” on Aug. 27, 29 and 30 and Sept. 3, 5 and 6. The musical is presented through special arrangement with Musical Theatre International.
AUG. 27 — THE GREAT GROWN-UP SPELLING BEE
The Lee County Literacy Coalition will host The Great Grown-Up Spelling Bee on Thursday, Aug. 27, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Nonprofit Center of East Alabama, located at 1944 Opelika Road in Auburn. The event will feature door prizes, food, cocktails and fun. Tickets are $40, team sponsorships are $325 and program ads are available for $50 and $100.
