CONTRIBUTED BY THE OPELIKA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
OPELIKA — The Opelika Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2026-2027 20 Under 40 Program, a leadership development initiative designed to cultivate the next generation of community leaders.
The program is seeking 20 outstanding individuals under the age of 40 who live in Opelika, are passionate about the community and have a vested interest in shaping the city’s future.
The 20 Under 40 Program provides participants with first-hand insight into the operations of city departments, local nonprofits and major employers, while offering direct access to community and civic leaders. Through a combination of leadership training, networking opportunities and hands-on experiences, participants will deepen their understanding of Opelika and strengthen their ability to lead and serve.
The program officially runs from July 2026 through May 2027 and includes a variety of required sessions and events, including a kick-off social, a full-day orientation retreat, bi-monthly class sessions, a Winter retreat and a graduation ceremony. Participants will also collaborate on a class-led community service project that makes a meaningful impact in Opelika.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Live in Opelika
• Be 40 years of age or younger at the time of application
• Demonstrate a passion for the betterment of the Opelika community
The total program cost is $625, which covers all sessions, retreats, materials
and meals. A limited number of scholarships may be available for qualified applicants.
“I wouldn’t be where I am today without this program,” said Ali Rauch, president and CEO of the Opelika Chamber. “20 Under 40 opens doors, builds confidence and connects you to the people and opportunities that shape your future — and the future of Opelika.”
Applications are open now through June 19, 2026. To apply, candidates must complete the application and submit a resume and one letter of recommendation.
