BEAUREGARD — Beauregard High School Theatre Department will open its 2025–26 production season with performances of “The Outsiders,” beginning Friday, Jan. 30, and running through Sunday, Feb. 1, in the school’s V.E.S.P.A. auditorium.
Opening night is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 30, at 6:30 p.m. The production explores themes of community, division and shared humanity through the lens of social struggles that remain relevant today.
Director Sarah Kate Alsobrook said she selected “The Outsiders” to highlight the importance of unity.
“I want to tell the story of community,” Alsobrook said. “When we strip everything else away, we’re better together. It’s a story of looking past our differences and realizing that we are much more alike underneath our outer shell than we may appear.”
Set in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1967, “The Outsiders” follows Ponyboy Curtis, portrayed by junior Michael Sheldon, a member of the Greasers — a tight-knit group from the east side of town where money is scarce but loyalty runs deep. Across town, the Socs live a life of privilege, creating tension between the two groups.
As conflict escalates, an encounter involving Bob, played by Caleb McCollum and Sean Ellis, and Johnny, portrayed by Bri Lavoie and Reina LaPread, pushes the rivalry to a breaking point. The resulting events force the community to confront consequences that will change their lives, whether they are prepared for it or not.
Tickets for “The Outsiders” are available online through GoFan.co or at the door prior to each performance. Adult tickets are $15, and student tickets (K–12 and university) are $10. The production is recommended for ages 10 and older.
“The Outsiders,” adapted by Christopher Sergel, is produced by special arrangement with The Dramatic Publishing Company of Woodstock, Illinois.
