AUBURN — Lee-Scott Academy announced the hiring of Brad Starks as the school’s next varsity head volleyball coach. Coach Starks joins the Warriors from Edgewood Academy, where he built a dominant volleyball and basketball program over the last several seasons. In addition to coaching the varsity volleyball team, Starks will serve as a full-time women’s assistant basketball coach.

During his tenure with Edgewood, Coach Starks compiled an impressive 106-22 varsity volleyball record and a 102-32 varsity basketball record. His teams consistently competed at the highest level in the Alabama Independent Sports Association (AISA), capturing back-to-back AISA 2A Volleyball State Championships in 2023 and 2024, including a 37-2 record in 2023 and a 27-5 record in 2024. Starks also led Edgewood to the 2023-24 AISA 2A Girls Basketball State Championship with a 28-3 season record.

Starks was recognized for his coaching excellence as the Alabama Sports Writers Association AISA Volleyball Coach of the Year in both 2023 and 2024, as well as the 2024 Elmore County Volleyball Coach of the Year.

“We are excited to have Coach Starks lead our volleyball programs and assist with our girls’ basketball program,” said Lee-Scott Academy Head of School Dr. Stan Cox. “Coach Starks has demonstrated he knows how to win championships and has clearly expressed the enthusiasm he has for the sport and mentoring students. I am confident that he will bring a fun style of competition to our program and be an excellent addition to our Lee-Scott family.”

We are looking forward to his commitment to supporting our student-athletes in our volleyball program and women’s basketball program academically and athletically.”

“I am incredibly excited to join Lee-Scott as the head volleyball coach and I look forward to becoming a part of the Warrior family,” said Starks. “I can’t wait to get involved in the community and help our players achieve their full potential both on and off the court.”
