Betty Collins, of Opelika, was born in Elmore County, Alabama, on Jan. 10, 1936, to the late Edward Edison and Ramelia Harden Lewis and passed away on Nov. 25, 2021, at Arbor Springs Heath Center. She was 85 years old. She was a faithful member of St. Mary of the Mission Catholic Church. She retired from the City of Opelika Planning Department with more than 25 years of service. Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Raymond Collins; son, Dale Collins; grandson, Daniel Collins and three sisters. Betty is survived by her two sons, Mike Collins and wife Frances and Scott Collins and wife Joselyn; four grandchildren, Laura Childs and husband Shane; Lisa Price and husband Hunter; Lindsey and Leah Collins; and eight great grandchildren. A Funeral Mass was held in the Chapel at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home on Monday, Nov. 29, 2021 at 11 a.m. with Father Vincent Finnerty, C.M. officiating. Interment followed at Garden Hills Cemetery. Visitation was held one hour prior to the Mass in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary of the Mission Catholic Church, Opelika.
